Ode to the reddening apple at the heart of my tree

You flashed into existence as a seed
And all your potential
Was concentrated there
With the pressure of eternity
Aching towards manifestation

Immediately you began to grow
Making of this aching space a womb
Of this barren house a home
And I felt your spirit flutter up and down
the marrow of my bones
With anticipation I shuddered
And I knew that you had come

Dear child, now you are a fruit
Ripening inside of me
And although deep down I already know
I wonder at the intricacies of who you're meant to be

I love you now both as part of me, and separately
A reddening apple at the heart of my tree
And soon you'll drop into the loving hands of this family

May we be the soil you need to grow
Faithfully stable and high
Nestling roots towards the heart of the Earth
And stretching liberated branches to the sky
